This Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) course is for people interested in a career in health, social care or science. It will develop your knowledge of the sciences and health subjects. It will give you the skills and confidence for success in a college or university course. If you've few or no formal qualifications and have been out of full-time education for a period of time you could be eligible for this course.

You'll study the basics of health and science subjects to enable you to apply to the first year of a university degree or HNC course at SCQF level 7.

There are many openings in caring services, nursing and midwifery and for science technicians. This course will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience to progress on to university. You'll be taught by experienced staff with a background in the science industry, and have the chance of site visits and placements with organisations such as the Marine Conservation Society, the University of the West of Scotland and the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre.
