Intro to the course:

This course will give you the experience and skills you will require to take the first steps into professional cookery within the catering industry.  You will gain valuable work experience including preparing and making food for our on-site bistro. 

We would welcome applicants whose first language is not English.

This course allows you to take the first steps into professional cookery within the hospitality industry.

The hospitality industry is wide and varied with many exciting roles to explore. The industry requires a number of new recruits each year, therefore it has never been more important to support the pipeline of talent into this sector each year. The sector covers a range of businesses from restaurants, hotels, cafes, conferences and event settings.

As part of your course, you will be able to develop key practical skills in our industry standard training facilities.

This course can lead to employment as a trainee in the wide and diverse hospitality industry.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • two National 3 qualifications
  • equivalent recognised qualification 
  • we welcome applications from mature students, particularly those who lack formal qualifications but have experience in the industry
  • a keen interest in cooking, baking and the hospitality industry
  • if English is not your first language an interview to support your application may be beneficial

What are the interview arrangements?

Offers made will be based on your application.  Those who do not meet the minimum entry requirements will be invited for an individual interview.
