SKILLS FOR EMPLOYMENT (SCQF LEVEL 4)

Intro to the course:

A practical, enterprise‑driven programme where learners develop real workplace skills by running micro‑businesses, organising events, managing social media, and completing an external work placement. This course is designed for adults who require additional support for learning. It develops core skills and promotes independence, personal development, and employability.

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for adults who require additional support for learning and are looking to progress to employment. It also develops skills required for further college study or entrepreneurship.

What will I study?

This course will equip you with the confidence, skills and knowledge to enter the world of work by developing your core and employability skills. You will learn elements including developing essential skills, travel support, working with others, digital literacy, responsibilities of employment, financial capabilities, enterprise and communication.

There will be an opportunity to apply your skills in a range of settings, including participating in the College Way Market clothing shop and an external work experience placement, tailored to your chosen career path.

There is possible progression to other courses of study, including Project Search, subject specific courses, voluntary work and employment.

How will I be assessed?

Ongoing assessment in a range of practical and classroom-based activities and the successful completion of a work experience placement.

This course will provide a supportive environment where you can gain confidence, independence and the skills needed to move onto another college course or into employment. You will take part in an external work placement.

What are the entry requirements?

Entry to this course is subject to one or more of the following: 

• You should be able to work independently, participate in small group activities and communicate at Level 4
• Course entry is subject to an interview to assess which level of course is best for you 

What are the interview arrangements?

The interview is to determine if the course is a good fit for you. During it, we will discuss previous education experiences, plans for the future and additional support needs. It will be with members of the lecturing team and may take 30-60 minutes. You will be contacted by the team to arrange a suitable time. You may bring someone with you to the interview.

Fees for full time is £1008

This course is eligible for Bursary.
