GET INTO BARBERING

Intro to the course:

This 12-week course will give you skills and knowledge to start your barbering journey. You'll be taught in our purpose-built salons by industry-experienced staff. You'll provide basic services for clients and assist with more advanced services delivered to clients.  This course will prepare you for progression to study SVQ level 2 Barbering.

This course is ideal for anyone wanting to start a career in barbering. It will suit school leavers or those looking to change career or progress into the industry. Perfect course for those stepping into barbering for the first time.

• Prepare for Barbering services
• Basic cutting
• Shampooing and conditioning hair 
• Contribute to the development of effective working relationships
• Blow dry hair
• Assist with barbering services.
• Assist with shaving services

Practical assessments under observation and portfolio work.

What are the entry requirements?

• Age 16 at the beginning of the programme 
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with others
• Motivated and possessing  creative and artistic skills 
• 2 x National 4 preferable 
• Acceptance will depend on application and successful interview

What are the interview arrangements?

Interview on campus with lecturing team including a skills test
