Intro to the course:

This course introduces you to the exciting world of hospitality and events,

preparing you for further study or an entry-level role within the industry. There is a

strong emphasis on developing practical skills for work in hotels, bars, restaurants

and event organisations. You will work as part of a team and in front-facing roles

with members of the public, so excellent customer service is a key focus of the

course. We would welcome applicants whose first language is not English

(minimum ESOL Intermediate level 2 or equivalent is advantageous)

How will I be assessed?

A wide mix of assessment approaches are used including presentations, practical

work, multiple-choice tests, short report writing, and practical observations within

The Study training restaurant.

customers in our on-site commercial restaurant, The Study.

This course will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge for various roles such as restaurant supervisor, barista, bartender, customer service, banqueting and events assistant and front desk.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following:

· NPA in Hospitality, Events or Professional Cookery at SCQF Level 4

· 3 suitable National 5, Intermediate 2 or General level Standard Grades

including English and Maths or equivalent

· Work experience within the sector

What are the interview arrangements?

One-to-one or group interview with lecturing staff.
