Hannah loved the combination of time away from School in College and the work placement experience. Hannah is now using the skills she developed on the Foundation Apprenticeship course on her full-time course in Midwifery which she is studying at University.
Erika decided to take further steps towards her childhood dream of working with people in need by starting our HNC Additional Support Needs course. With her experience doing healthcare courses at South Lanarkshire College, she is able to work for the NHS as a clinical worker.
"The South Lanarkshire College course has been paramount in my learning of the construction industry and has helped me in my day to day job. There have been many times I’ve had a task to do at work, and I have applied the knowledge and skills I have learned in College to carry out and complete what I am doing."
“I chose the HNC Social Services course because, I have always had an interest in care, I originally planned to become a Veterinary Nurse but education and life choices changed over time and I enrolled at South Lanarkshire to start my journey on the pathway Mental Health Nursing."
“I chose the HNC Healthcare Practice course, as I’d been inspired by the District Nursing team I was working with. I looked online and felt this course was a great way to get me prepared for university and gain the one year qualification I needed to apply for year two Nursing degree at the University of the West of Scotland."
Mary Heron made the decision to change her life and start studying at South Lanarkshire College in 2016. She had been out of education for some time and was looking for a course that would give her the skills she needed to progress to University to study her dream course in Social Science and Psychology.
"Since completing the course in March 2020, Anna has started her own successful chocolate business, “Lockdown worked for me actually” said Anna, “everything happened at the right time. I just finished the course and decided to purchase some ingredients straight away before we went into full lockdown. I started to practise the skills I’d learned and over the next few months, I began to expand my chocolate knowledge. At the end of 2020, I officially started to sell my chocolate creations, and since then Bella Chocolate has gone from strength to strength."
