Scotland's Colleges unite to Show Racism the Red Card in landmark 30th Year.

Colleges across Scotland have come together to support Show Racism the Red Card through a new collaborative sector campaign, led by CDN’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategic Network.
Launched 30th April, the campaign features a new video showcasing contributions from colleges across the country, highlighting a shared commitment to tackling racism and promoting inclusion across further education.
The initiative is particularly significant as Show Racism the Red Card marks its 30th anniversary in 2026, celebrating three decades as the UK’s leading anti-racism education charity.
The campaign was developed through CDN’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategic Network, led by the Black History Month/Anti-Racism Working Group. It aims to strengthen a collective voice across the college sector, raise awareness of racism and its impact, and support ongoing anti-racism work.
Colleges were invited to contribute campaign materials, helping to amplify a unified message of inclusion and action across Scotland.
The launch video brings these contributions together, reflecting both the diversity of the sector and its shared commitment to meaningful change.
Dr Gail Toms, Delivery and Engagement Partner at CDN, said:
“As Show Racism the Red Card approaches its 30th year, this collaboration amplifies a clear message from Scotland’s colleges: tackling racism requires ongoing action, partnership and courage. CDN, through the work of the EDI Strategic Network, supports all our colleges in their mission to turn values into action so that learners feel respected, represented and supported.”
A representative of the Black History Month/Anti-Racism Working Group said:
“On behalf of the EDI Network, we recognise the importance of initiatives like Show Racism the Red Card as part of our commitment to tackling racism and promoting equality across our institutions. Education plays a key role in tackling racism, helping to create safe and inclusive spaces where everyone can succeed.”
Everyone at South Lanarkshire College was proud to be part of this campaign. Our Equality & Engagement officer Elaine Ballantyne said:
“I am proud that South Lanarkshire College was part of this campaign while working alongside other colleges through the EDI Strategic Network. I think the video reflects that shared commitment, and it was great to have the support of CDN to help turn our values into something visible.”
