ESOL INTAKE

Intro to the course:

At South Lanarkshire College, our ESOL courses will help develop all aspects of your English language. Our courses are designed to provide you with the language skills to help you with work, further study and day to day life.

Our courses are based on reading, writing, speaking, listening and using grammar. They are also about building confidence and using language in day to day life.

At every level of ESOL, students study for Scottish national qualifications and successful students receive a certificate at the end of the course to show their level of English achievement. These qualifications can help you find a job or a place on another college or university course.

Our courses this year are for Beginner to National 5 students (A1 – B2 /  Beginner – Upper Intermediate). Before the term begins, all students will invited to come to college for a level test.

What are the entry requirements?

We welcome applications from everyone who does not have English as a first language. It doesn’t matter if you have any qualifications in English, we will interview and test you to make sure you are placed in the right level of course for you. 

What are the interview arrangements?

Level testing will take place at the end of April 2026

Fees, finance and funding

Fees for full time is £1008

This course is eligible for Bursary.

If you are unsuccessful in your Bursary application, you may be liable for the full cost of course
