South Lanarkshire College celebrates new minibus partnership with Climate Action Strathaven and South Lanarkshire Council

We are delighted to have officially launched our pilot minibus-service with South Lanarkshire Council Leader Joe Fagan, and Climate Action Strathaven joining students and staff at the college to celebrate the launch.

SLC’s new minibus service, running from East Kilbride town centre to the College, aims to provide an invaluable service to college students, help to make South Lanarkshire College more interconnected with the local community, and support the College’s aims to tackle climate emergency by reducing our student’s carbon footprint.

This service, which is being operated by Climate Action Strathaven in partnership with South Lanarkshire College and funded with support from South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Benefits Fund, will run until this summer.

Stella McManus, South Lanarkshire College Principal and CEO, said:

“We are delighted at South Lanarkshire College to be partnering with Climate Action Strathaven and South Lanarkshire Council to provide this service for our students. By working together, college, community, and council partnerships like this can deliver real action and benefits of our local communities.

“At South Lanarkshire College, our guiding principle is that we are one college, one community, focused on our students. The College will continue to deliver on projects and programmes like this bus service to ensure that we have a college campus working for all our students.”

Joe Fagan, South Lanarkshire Council Leader, said:

“This is a great example of partnership working between the council, college, and local community organisations to make getting to and from the college much easier for students.

“I am sure it will help the college go from strength to strength, and I am delighted that Community Benefit Funds were able to support this being set up.”
