South Lanarkshire College Welcomes Top Business and Sustainable Industry Leaders As New Board Appointees

South Lanarkshire College (SLC), one of Scotland's top performing Colleges, is delighted to welcome four new members to the College's Board of Management.

The new members will join an experienced and ambitious board, working to support the College’s strategic direction and delivering on the its innovative Strategy 2030.

John Brown, Anna Stoll, and Doug Morwood will take up non-executive positions, while Chris Sumner joins as a Support Staff Representative.

SLC’s new board members are experienced figures within Scotland’s business community and public sector, bringing an extensive background in the energy, construction, technology and environmental sustainability sectors to the College’s Board of Management.

After another successful year for South Lanarkshire College, where the College became an independent regional college and maintained its position as one of Scotland’s top performing colleges for full-time students, the College is ready to enter 2026 full of positive momentum.

The appointments to SLC’s Board of Management will allow the College to maximise its engagement with businesses and continue developing students to meet future workforce needs in key sectors such as Business, Construction, Health and Social Care, and Sustainable and Low Carbon Industries.

Meet the new board members

John Brown
Group Managing Director for the Veitchi Group

John brings over 30 years of experience in the construction sector across Scotland, the UK and Europe, serving as Group Managing Director for the Veitchi Group, one of Scotland’s most historic and respected subcontractor firms. John brings an adept knowledge base of aligning business objectives with market demands, fostering innovation, and ensuring delivery excellence to SLC’s board.

Anna Stoll
Deputy Director at Skewb Ltd

Anna joins SLC’s board with an extensive background in decarbonisation, built environment and energy sectors, having worked with some of the UK’s largest public sector bodies to help deliver sustainability strategies and establishing herself as a high-achieving industry leader.

Doug Morwood
Founder of Regenerative Futures

Doug is an international leader in entrepreneurship education having taught professors and practitioners both at home and internationally, from Brazil to Vietnam. Doug brings background of advising governments, business groups and public bodies globally on future skills, systems change and innovation strategy.

Chris Sumner
Head of Digital, South Lanarkshire College

Chris joins the Board of Management as the Support Staff Representative, providing key insights for the College across innovation and data analysis. Chris has a background in forensic science and is a leader in partnership working across the College sector.
