An ambitious five-year plan to deliver inclusive, innovative, and sustainable education that empowers learners, supports employers, and strengthens communities across Scotland.
SLC Strategy 2030South Lanarkshire College has this week unveiled its Strategy 2030, an ambitious five-year and forward-looking roadmap that sets out how it will deliver on its new vision, to inspire and transform lives through inclusive, innovative and sustainable education.
The strategy was officially unveiled at the College’s highly successful all-staff conference, where colleagues from across the organisation came together to explore the themes and ambitions that will guide the College to 2030.
Staff heard Principal, Stella McManus, outline the vision for the next five years and the College’s commitment to providing a confident skilled workforce that meets the present and future needs of employers.
At a time of rapid economic, technological, and environmental change, the role of colleges has never been more vital. Strategy 2030 sets out how South Lanarkshire College will meet this moment, by empowering learners, supporting employers, and strengthening communities through education that is inclusive, future-focused, and socially just.
The new plan commits the College to:
- Providing an entrepreneurial and destination focussed curriculum, and lifelong learning opportunities.
- Leading the transition to net zero and tackling urgent skills gaps.
- Widening access to education for those often excluded from traditional routes.
- Expanding digital and low-carbon skills provision.
- Deepening regional partnerships and collaboration with employers, stakeholders and communities.
- Enhancing wellbeing and learner support to ensure every student thrives.
Recognising the need to remain financially sustainable and responsive to opportunities, the strategy also outlines plans to diversify income, strengthen commercial and employer relationships, and explore innovative delivery models, ensuring the College not only adapts but thrives in a changing landscape.
Principal, Stella McManus, said:
“Strategy 2030 is our shared commitment to creating positive, lasting change, for students, employers and the communities that we serve. It’s a plan built through collaboration with staff, students, partners, and stakeholders. It represents a shared ambition and a clear direction, one that positions South Lanarkshire College as a catalyst for positive, lasting change in the lives of individuals and the prosperity of our region."
Chair of the Board of Management, Douglas Morrison said:
"South Lanarkshire College is uniquely positioned to fuel sustainable economic growth, create inclusive skills pathways and help build a more just, resilient, and prosperous future for our communities. I look forward to working with the Board, our dedicated staff and students and our many partners to turn this vision into reality.”
