Intro to the course:

This course will offer you a foundation in the digital media areas of audio, moving images and still images and will introduce you to a range of tools to acquire and edit digital media in a mainly practical setting.

The course will allow you to develop technical skills in the creation and editing of digital media but also recognise the importance of planning and design.  You will have the opportunity to follow a development life cycle “ from planning through to design, and then on to creation and editing.  You will also develop basic knowledge and understanding of the wide range of opportunities within the creative industries.

Applications can be made via your school and is for you if you are interested in creative industries and digital media.

What will I study?

You will study an NPA in Digital Media at SCQF level 5, and may have the option of undertaking an additional unit in Creative Industries. 

Next step course options

FA in Creative and Digital Media if you have achieved or will achieve a relevant Higher by end of S6
Further qualification opportunities are available across a range of level 5/6 courses in subject related areas.

Ongoing observation and practical tasks throughout the course.

Where can this course lead?

The NPA is primarily intended as part of a route to further study and/or preparation for employment: direct entry to employment on completion is unlikely.  However, there are various avenues available to employment on completion of the NPA, in particular, non-graduate level apprentice and training opportunities with media companies.

What are the entry requirements?

National 4 Computing Science and Core Skills SCQF 4.  
The ability to work at SCQF level 5.
A keen interest in developing skills in digital media

What are the interview arrangements?

In consultation with your Guidance Teacher, please complete our application form and pass to your Guidance Teacher, who will make sure we receive your application. We recommend you submit your application form as early as possible and at least by the end of February if you plan to start college in August.
