Intro to the course:

This course allows students to develop an understanding of the Early Education and Childcare sector. They will also look at career options within the sector and the skills, qualities, attitudes and qualifications required to fulfil these roles.

Who is the course for?

The GradU8 programme is aimed at senior phase students (S4 - S6) and offers an opportunity to study towards a vocational qualification.

This course offers learners the opportunity to study the following units:

  • Working in Early Education and Childcare
  • Development and Wellbeing of Children and Young People
  • Play in Early Education and Childcare
  • Children adn Young People: Rights and Protection

  • NPA Playworker and Childcare course
  • Foundation Apprenticeship or Modern Apprenticeship
  • NC Early Education and Childcare

 

How will I be assessed?

Assessments will be on-going.  Students will be assessed through written work, presentations and group work.

As well as providing an opportunity to learn new vocational skills, The GradU8 programme also gives young people experience of a college environment and equips them with transferable skills.

Employment in the Early Education and Childcare sector with further training and qualifications.

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates must have the ability to work in literacy and numeracy at level 5.

What are the interview arrangements?

Interviews will be completed by South Lanarkshire Council in partnership with relevant High Schools.
