Intro to the course:

This course will give you the experience and skills you will require to take the first steps into the events industry.  You'll gain valuable practical experience including organising events supporting other areas within the College including hospitality or travel. 

We would welcome applicants whose first language is not English.

Why should I choose this course?

The National Progression Award (NPA) Events at SCQF level 4 has been developed to provide individuals with the initial skills they will need to pursue a career in the events industry and provide the essential skills required for those pursuing a career in the events sector.

The course develops knowledge in areas such as: 

  • assisting with events
  • hospitality - introduction to events
  • skills for customer care
  • IT solutions for administrators
  • digital culture - social software

The award has been designed to develop practical, technical and transferable skills; oral, written and evaluation abilities; problem solving and planning; and organisational and communication skills.

Where can this course lead?

Working in the events industry which itself cuts across a number of businesses. 

What are the entry requirements?

  • two National 3 qualifications
  • equivalent recognised qualification 
  • we welcome applications from mature students, particularly those who lack formal qualifications but have experience in the industry
  • if English is not your first language, an interview to support your application may be beneficial

What are the interview arrangements?

Offers made will be based on your application.  Those who do not meet the minimum entry requirements will be invited for an individual interview.
