Intro to the course:

A recognised qualification from AAT helps support finance teams and those interested in joining a finance profession with everyday business activities and understand sales and purchase processes.  It will provide you with basic knowledge to deal with numbers in a business environment.  You will gain an understanding of how businesses operate, how to contribute effectively in the workplace and how businesses process sales and purchases and the documents and procedures associated with this.  You will be equipped with basic numerical skills that are needed in the workplace such as decimals, percentages and fractions.

Who is the course for?

This curse will offer students the opportunity to develop key practical skills used in every business as a route into employment.  On completion of this qualification you will be equipped with a strong foundation from which to progress to further study with AAT in either bookkeeping or accountancy through our HNC Accounting.

What will I study?

This award has two units:

  • Working in the business environment
  • Using numbers in business

Next Step Course Options

This course can allow progression onto AAt level 2 courses and HNC Accounting.

How will I be assessed?

Students must successfully achieve the mandatory unit assessment.  The proportion of this qualification assessed by externally marked assessment is 100%.

The assessment in this qualification:

  • is set and marked by AAT
  • is computer based
  • is time-limited
  • will take place at the college which is an approved training provider

What are the entry requirements?

For the best chance of success we recommend that you have a good standard of English and Maths (Numeracy).

What are the interview arrangements?

No formal interview, students will be invited to an informal information/enrolment session.

Other information:

The delivery model can vary dependent on student needs.  The class will be running face to face in college however, if candidates would prefer to work remotely from home for some of the course, this can be accommodated.  There is a course delivery schedule which specifies  the sessions that candidates need to be “in college” for.  The course is assessed by an AAT on-line exam, this would need to take place “in college”.
