Intro to the course:

This introductory course will set you on the path to a successful career in fashion make-up or make-up artistry. It is for those looking to start their career and to achieve level 6. The course introduces you to different make-up and special effect areas such as creative make- up trends, special effects for media, character make-up, fantasy make-up, styling for a total look, wigs and postiche for media and commercial experience.

Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for anyone wanting to start a career in make-up. It will suit school leavers or those looking to change career or progress into the industry.

What will I study?

You'll learn the basics for progressing in fashion make-up or make-up artistry for TV and film. The course covers contemporary make-up techniques, character makeup, special effects, styling for a total look, body painting, wigs and hair pieces for media, and commercial experience. You'll learn through demonstrations and workshops.

Practical assessments under observation and a portfolio evidence.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • SCQF level 5 Hairdressing, SVQ2 Hairdressing or SVQ2 Beauty 
  • Intro to Hair and Make-up
  • Gradu8 Make-up Artistry
  • relevant industry experience 
  • for direct entry, minimum of National 5 English/Art 
  • acceptance on interview
