Intro to the course:

Train during school hours for a job with school hours! You will be in college 2 days per week between 9.30am and 2.30pm. You will also be allocated a placement for 2 days per week between 9.30am and 2.30pm. 

This course will cover areas such as:

  • Developing Professional Practice in an Education Setting: Workplace Experience
  • Understanding Professional Practice in an Education Setting
  • Development of Children and Young People in an Education Setting
  • Supporting the Behaviour of Children and Young People in an Education Setting
  • Supporting Children and Young People who require Additional Support for Learning
  • Protecting and Promoting the Rights of the Child
  • Working with Children and Young People with Autism in an Education Setting
  • Supporting Children and Young People with Dyslexia in an Education Setting

Anyone interested in employment in a school or nursery setting or progressing in their studies.

A range of SVQ Units related to supporting children and young people.

Open and closed book assessments and group project work

Where can this course lead?

 After completion of the PDA, you will be given a guaranteed interview with South Lanarkshire Council for an Education Support Assistant role. You could become a classroom assistant in a school or support assistant in an early years setting.

No formal entry requirement.

You will be invited to the college for an interview after we have received your application
