This is a 24 week introductory course for those wanting to enter the nail or beauty therapy industry. You'll learn how to work in a salon, and about gel nails, pedicure and eye treatments. We encourage you to apply early for this course.

Who is the course for?

This 24 week course is ideal for those wishing to start a career as a nail technician. It will suit school leavers or those looking to change career and progress into the industry. You will develop skills in hand and foot manicures with a variety of products including Gel and Acrylics.

What will I study?

You'll learn the skills for working in nail services industry. The course includes salon reception duties, manicure and pedicure, nail art, applying and maintaining nail enhancements, gel polishing eye enhancements and contemporary eye treatments.

Why should I choose this course?

The beauty industry needs skilled staff. This introductory course will teach you the skills and techniques needed for entry-level work as a nail technician or on to a higher-level course in beauty therapy. You'll be taught in our nail salons by people with high-end experience. We have close connections with local businesses such as Capital Hair and Beauty, Ellisons Hair and Beauty and House of Famuir. Many of our students do placements with these organisations while studying at the college. You will also get experience in our commercial training salon.

Where can this course lead?

This course leads to self-employment or salon work as a nail technician or therapist.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • two National 4 subjects 
  • keen interest in the nail trade 
  • acceptance may depend on interview

What are the interview arrangements?
