Intro to the course:

This course provides a solid foundation for working in the industry. It will develops knowledge, skills and employment in the aviation sector including cabin crew roles, airport and ground operations and customer service.

Working in travel and tourism opens up a world of opportunities including the aviation sector. This course will help you get started in an industry in which there will be plenty of job opportunities in Scotland, the UK and further afield. You'll be taught by lecturers who have worked in the industry for airlines such as British Airways, Emirates and Jet2. You'll learn what you need to progress into further study or opportunities in the travel and tourism sector.

Other areas that will be developed whilst studying an introduction to the travel and tourism industry, customer service skills, selling skills, first aid and many more which will  assist with progression to the next level of study or employment.

You will learn in an our purpose-built cabin room and have the chance to take part in college and external events.

You will achieve a National Certificate in Travel and Tourism.

Why should I choose this course?

Since Covid19 the airline industry was impacted by the effects of border closures and a 97% decrease in international flights.  Once borders opened back up we have seen a huge regeneration of the aviation industry, with many employees leaving the industry therefore, leaving a number of fantastic opportunities in this sector.

Fast forward to 2023, the aviation sector is in recovery and as a result, recruitment has been phenomenal with airlines holding huge recruitment drives and offering bonuses on successful completion of training.

This course will provide the skills and knowledge to prepare students for the 6 weeks new entrant course with a variety of airlines including, low cost, charter and scheduled airlines.  With a realistic mock cabin environment and cabin crew uniform provided, all students will have the most authentic experience.

In order to prepare for working in the travel and tourism industry there are a variety of units that can transfer to different roles within the sector, and we prepare students for interviews to ensure maximised success.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • Two National 4 qualification(s) preferably Communication and Numeracy
  • equivalent recognised qualification
  • adult returners with relevant work experience 
  • if English is not your first language, an interview to support your application may be beneficial

What are the interview arrangements?

Offers made will be based on your application.  Those who do not meet the minimum entry requirements will be invited for an individual interview.
