This course will set you on the path to a successful career in fashion make-up or make-up artistry. The course introduces you to creative makeup trends, special effects , character and fantasy make-up, and styling for a total look, wigs and postiche for media and commercial experience.

Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for anyone wanting to start a career in make-up. It will suit school leavers or those looking to change career or progress into the industry.

What will I study?

You'll learn the basics for progressing in fashion make-up or make up artistry for TV and film. The course covers contemporary make-up techniques, character make-up, special effects, styling for a total look, body painting, wigs and postiche, wigs and hair pieces for media, and commercial experience. You'll learn through demonstrations and workshops.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • SCQF level 5 Hairdressing, SVQ2 Hairdressing or SVQ2 Beauty 
  • Hair and Makeup skills
  • Gradu8 makeup Artistry
  • For direct entry, minimum of National 5 English/Art 
  • Relevant industry experience 
  • Successful interview.

Interview on campus with lecturing team.
