Intro to the course:This Professional Development Award is for people who are already working, or would like to work, as classroom/ pupil support assistants or in an educational setting supporting young people with additional support needs.
It could also suit learners returning to education who'd like to build on existing qualifications by gaining some experience working with children before going on to further study in HNC in Childcare.
The course is made up of 8 National Units and a practical placement. Students must have a placement of one day per week in a primary or secondary school.
Course units include:
Providing Learning Support for Children with Additional Needs
Work experience in a Primary or Secondary School or in an Additional Support Needs (ASN) setting.

As this course comprises a practical placement, Disclosure Scotland (PVG) vetting of all students will be required.
