This course develops basic practical skills and knowledge of bakery, professional cookery and hospitality, preparing you for further study at SCQF level 5 or an entry-level position in industry. Chefs are in high demand, with an estimated 11,000 vacancies within the next year predicted across the UK.

Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for anyone wanting to develop their career in the baking, cooking and hospitality industry. The course will suit school leavers or those looking to change career or take their first steps into the industry.

What will I study?

You'll develop skills in craft baking, bread making, cake decorating and pastry making, food preparation and cooking skills and also basic food and beverage service skills. You'll learn through group work, lectures, industry visits and guest speakers.
