Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for anyone wanting to progress a career in the cooking industry. It will suit school leavers or those looking to change career or take their first steps into the industry.

What will I study?

This course is for aspiring chefs who would like to develop their skills and knowledge in professional cookery and kitchen management. You'll learn about advanced, modern cookery techniques and food product development. You'll learn through work placement, groupwork, lectures, industry visits and guest speakers.

You'll be taught by some of the best chef-lecturers around. We work closely with employers such as Gleneagles Hotel, The Balmoral Hotel and Trump Turnberry Hotel to ensure you learn the trends and the techniques that employers are looking for. You'll gain extensive experience in our partner restaurants and venues. Previous students cooked for Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Boris Johnson and others at COP26 in 2021. With such experience, many of our students go on to work in top establishments.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • 2 Highers
  • Relevant group of National Qualification Units 
  • SVQ 3 Professional Cookery (Food Preparation and Cooking)
  • Equivalent recognised qualification 

Relevant work experience Acceptance may depend on interview.

What are the interview arrangements?

One-to-one or group interview with lecturing staff.
