The Advice Centre is an advice and information base for both applicants and enrolled students. If you have a query, drop in and we will do our best to assist or refer you to someone who can.

Course Information & Advice
The Admissions Team will be happy to deal with enquiries regarding college courses, applications, pre-entry interviews and course offer letters and to give general information on funding. Information on credit transfer and accreditation of prior learning is available in the Advice Centre and an interview with a member of Faculty staff can be arranged so that you can discuss your specific experience / qualifications and goals. All applicants for full-time courses are sent a Guide to Applicants with their interview appointment. You should read this carefully as it will help you in your preparations for the admissions interview. A copy of the guide is available through the link on the right.Student Funding Information
If you require general advice on the funding available to help you while you study, please contact Admissions or Student Services. Application forms and information booklets are available in the Advice Centre. Please see relevant web pages for your level of study and for discretionary and childcare funding information.Guidance
During the year you will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of guidance activities. You will have a timetabled guidance slot and will have at least three review meetings with your Course Tutor. This is an opportunity to check that you are on track to complete your course successfully or to negotiate a more achievable programme of study. You may be asked to attend additional meetings to discuss progress, attendance or conduct if these are giving your Class or Course Tutors any concerns or you may ask for a guidance meeting if you have any issues you wish to discuss. If required, you will be able to access support for learning and personal welfare services.
Several members of College staff are trained in ASIST - Suicide Intervention Skills Traninig.
Induction
In the first week of your course you will get to know your Course Tutor and the other students in your class group. You will be given a Personal Learning Plan folder containing- your PLP

Information Stands (Freshers Week)
Various organisations will have stands in the Atrium with information on their services including the NUS who will provide information on their services and how to get involved as an elected member of the College Student Association Executive Committee.Jobsearch & JobPoints
During the session, various activities are organised to assist you make choices for the next stage of your studies or career and there is a careers and university prospectus section in the College Library. Job vacancies notice boards display both full-time and part-time job advertisements. Make use of the Moving On section of your Personal Learning Plan.Employment vacancy and recruitment websites can be accessed though the PCs in the Learning Centre or Library. Employment websites are listed in the contacts and links section. There are two touchscreen JobPoints in the Advice Centre where you can access the JobCentrePlus vacancies website, print off relevant vacancies and phone JobCentrePlus regarding benefits enquiries.
Progression
The College prospectus gives information on general progression routes for most College courses.In November, the College Careers Advisor runs workshops on how to complete your UCAS application.
In November and May, representatives from local universities visit the College to give information and advice on progression to second / third year of degree level courses.
Look out for the posters giving dates and times.
Citizenship
Students are encouraged to become active citizens through Citizenship skills are valued by employers, university admissions tutors and the wider community, so our students are encouraged to participate fully in College life, each making their own unique contribution to the rewarding experience of studying at South Lanarkshire College.

Child Protection
The College operates a child protection policy in order to safeguard the welfare of the children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend the College. Members of staff have a duty of care to prevent physical, sexual, or emotional abuse and to report any suspicions of abuse.
