President

  • Be the prime representative of the association and seek to involve as many students in the association as possible
  • Attend the college Board and other relevant college committees, and report back to the association
  • Meet regularly with the College Management and report back to the Student Association
  • Liaise with the National Union for Students (NUS) and the local NUS area organisation
  • Lead delegations to the NUS national conference, NUS zone conferences and any other relevant conferences and report back to union council
  • Comply with and enforce the association's agreed financial regulations
  • Draft the Student Association annual budget and, in conjunctin with the Treasurer, monitor expenditure and ensure that all financial transcations are legitimate and that the necessary paperwork and receipts are kept for all transactions
  • Ensure that the Student Association accounts are audited annually and presented to the Board of Management for information
  • Be the prime representative of the association to liaise with the college over any matters affecting students
  • Keep members of the association informed of their activities
  • Meet with the returning officer and ensure that elections happen accordance with the associatin constitution; ensure that democratic procedures are upheld, including by-elections
  • Participate fully in and act as chairperson at executive committee meetings
  • Be the official representative at all official functions
  • Maintain all legal documentation relating to the union, including the constitution, instrument and articles of government, the association code of practice and all legal advice
  • Arrange training for the executive committee following their elections
  • Ensure that all officers of the association compile a written report for each meeting of union council and for wider circulation
  • Ensure that the democratically agreed decisions of the association are implemented
  • Act reasonably and prudently in all matters, and in the best interests of the union
  • Work with the College to review and develop the student engagement strategy
  • Work with the other Lanarkshire Presidents to consult on, plan and develop the student representation structure for the Lanarkshire Federation
  • Work with the other Lanarkshire Presidents to coordinate, support and enhance each other's work
  • Ensure the student voice is represented on a regional level
  • Be the official spokesperson of the Association to the media and other external bodies.
  • Attend the Board of Management, Academic Board and other relevant College committees and report back to the Student Association
  • Be the official spokesperson of the Association to the media and other external bodies.

Vice President

  • Chair executive committee meetings in the absence of the President.
  • In the absence of the President, deputise for the President at official functions.
  • Encourage students to join and be involved in the Student Association.
  • Be a cheque signatory to the Student Association account.
  • Assist the President generally in all of their other functions.
  • Be responsible for any other duties as decided by the Executive Committee.

Teasurer

  • Draft the Student Association annual budget and monitor expenditure in conjunction with the President.
  • Be responsible for the petty cash and present a record of petty cash transactions to each Executive Committee meeting.
  • Be a signatory to the Student Association account.
  • In conjunction with the President, ensure that all financial transactions are legitimate and that the necessary paperwork and receipts are kept for all transactions.
  • Ensure that the Student Association accounts are audited annually and that these are presented to the Board of Management for information.
  • Be responsible for the banking of any money received.
  • Be responsible for paying any bills promptly, and for sending out invoices for money owed to the Student Association.

Secretary

  • Organising and publicising all Student Association meetings
  • Drawing up and circulating the agenda for every meeting
  • Ensuring that minutes are taken of every meeting and that copies are distributed to Executive Committee members and a copy is kept in the files.
  • The collection and distribution of incoming Student Association mail.
  • Posting letters and logging all mail.
  • Producing reports and letters and ensuring copies are kept in the Student Association files.
  • Ensuring that all legal documents such and any correspondence are kept safe.

Mature Students' Officer

  • Be a student over the age of 21 at the start of the election.
  • Be responsible for organising a Mature Student Group and encouraging mature students to participate.
  • Provide a perspective on the issues which affect mature students to the Executive Committee and ensure that this is recognised in all of the Student Association's work.
  • Establish a number of projects relating to mature students' education, welfare and social needs at the beginning of the year, as agreed by the Executive Committee

Women's Officer

  • Ensure that women's views and opinions are reflected throughout the whole of the Student Association's work
  • Provide a woman's perspective on all matters concerning the Student Association and the College and ensure there is a regular forum / group where women can meet.
  • Establish and maintain contact with and provide information from groups and organisations which work on women's issues.
  • Promote the positive involvement of women in all areas of the Student Association's activities.

Entertainments Officer

  • Organise and publicise a variety of entertainments and other social activities to reflect the interests of all sections of the student body.
  • Establish and maintain contact with relevant clubs.
  • Establisn and maintain contact with relevant officers at other colleges in the area.
  • Be responsible for the sale of tickets and the collection of monies for activities.

International Officer

  • Ensure that the views and opinions of international students are reflected throughout the whole of the Student Association's work
  • Provide an internatinal perspective on all matters concerning the Student Association and the College and ensure there is a regular forum / group where international students can meet.
  • Establish and maintain contact with and provide information from groups and organisations which work on international student issues.
  • Promote the positive involvement of international students in all areas of the Student Association's activities.

Young Student Officer

  • Be responsible for organising a young Student Group and encouraging young students to participate.
