SBATC Awards Success

SLC students were the stars of the show at the 12th annual Scottish Building Apprenticeship & Training Council (SBATC) Apprentice Award ceremony which was held on Tuesday, 6 December at the Scottish Parliament Building, Holyrood.  An astounding 5 out of the 9 winners in the 3 award categories were South Lanarkshire College students.  

In the Civil Engineering Apprentice of the Year category SLC student Marcello Corolla came second.  His success was repeated in the Adult Apprentice of the Year category where student John McCluskey received a 3rd place award.  The biggest accolade of all came in the prestigious James Birnie apprentice of the year award where third, second and first prize were all awarded to South Lanarkshire College students.  Shaun Dempsey of City Building and Gavin McCluskey of McCluskey joinery were awarded second and third place while Plastering student Kenny McAllister of Bryan Mac Plasterers scooped the main award James Birnie Apprentice of the Year.
