Pre App's Students Help Charity| 01.12.10
During November 2010, the Construction Pre Apprentices organised and delivered a project for recognition towards the New Employability and Leadership Award. The students arranged a sponsored walk around Strathclyde Country Park and all funds raised by the group went towards The Moira Fund.
The Moira fund is a grant making charity, that has been established in memory of Moira Jones, who was murdered in Queens Park, Glasgow, in May 2008. Following her death, family, friends and colleagues of Moira wished to establish a fund in her memory that would support others who found themselves bereaved through violent death at the hands of another. Now fully established, The Moira Fund makes grants to individuals bereaved through violent death, which includes supporting: access to specialist bereavement counselling , access to respite and/or retreat and participation in a support network for individuals whose lives have been affected through murder or manslaughter.
The students managed to achieve a fantastic sum of £340 to which the College very generously donated to make a gesture of £400.
